For the company that owns the workspace
Can I sell our Notion or Confluence wiki to AI? Yes, once it is cleaned
Updated
Yes, for the pages your staff wrote at work: under UK law the company owns them, and AI data buyers name internal knowledge bases among what they license. Take the HR and client spaces out first.
Who owns the pages under UK law
Under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act, where a work is made by an employee in the course of employment, the employer is the first owner of any copyright in it, subject to any agreement to the contrary. Pages a contractor wrote are different: an assignment of copyright is not effective unless it is in writing signed by or on behalf of the person assigning it.

The tool does not take the pages either. Notion's own privacy page says you own your Customer Data, including any content you submit or upload to the Notion Service.

Which buyers take a wiki, and what they pay
micro1 lists internal knowledge bases, SOPs and process documentation among what it licenses, looks for established companies with 30+ full-time employees, and says it pays in full within 30 days of acceptance, with payments typically ranging from $150K to over $2M.

Mercor's data page names Confluence and Notion among the tools a company connects, with pages, databases and workspace content as what it takes. It pays by wire transfer once the anonymised dataset is delivered to the buyer, and publishes no price; it says compensation depends on data volume, the tools connected and the depth of the data.

Spaces that stay out of any licence
- HR spaces: pages about named staff are personal data, and Article 5(1)(b) of the UK GDPR says personal data is not to be further processed in a manner incompatible with the purposes it was collected for.
- Client spaces: documents a client shared under its contract with you are not yours to license on your own say.
- Pages a contractor wrote with no signed assignment: the copyright may still sit with the contractor.
- Anything a buyer would have to anonymise for you: both buyers above anonymise before data moves on, which removes names but does not answer the first three points.

Check what the tool itself already does
A workspace in Notion's AI Learning and Early Access Program has agreed terms that allow its content to be used to improve or train Notion's machine learning models for all users of the Service. Atlassian says it de-identifies and aggregates all contributed metadata before use, subject to data contribution settings. Read your own settings before you promise a buyer anything.

A note to forward to whoever owns the wiki
"Our wiki may be licensable to AI buyers: pages staff wrote at work belong to the company, and micro1 pays companies of 30+ staff for internal knowledge bases. HR and client spaces stay out. Worth a short look?"
Say which tool holds the wiki and roughly how many years of pages it keeps in the enquiry form, and we reply on whether a published buyer floor fits.
